About repoze

The idea for repoze came first. The name followed soon after, discovered in a giant old thesaurus I picked up at the local tip shop. Repose means a state of rest or tranquility, exactly how I want families to feel when they clear out the clutter, divert good gear from landfill, and make or save a few dollars along the way.

The s was swapped for a z to give the name a little more energy. A playful edge for a marketplace that solves a real problem, but still feels fun to use.

The @repoze handle was already taken on Instagram, but when I reached out to see if the owner might release it, he said yes, no cost, no catch, just one simple request: pay it forward. In many ways, repoze is my way of doing exactly that, paying it forward by creating something that makes life easier for families across Australia. A space that helps them trade better, spend smarter, and live more sustainably.

Families move through an extraordinary amount of gear, soccer boots outgrown mid-season, school blazers, prams, bikes, books, instruments, most of it still with plenty of life left. Yet until now, there’s been no easy, safe, or beautifully built space to pass it on. Luxury fashion has its resale platforms. Cars and homes have theirs. And Gen Z has turned reselling into a way of life. But families have been left juggling dysfunctional buy-and-sell groups, inboxes full of “Is this still available?” messages, and a constant cycle of clutter. repoze changes that.

I founded repoze to make circular living accessible, easier for families to find what they need and move on the things they’ve outgrown. There will always be a place for new, but re-commerce should sit right beside it, a natural part of how families grow, change and move through different stages of life.

You’ll also meet Buy n Sal along the way, our mascots who bring some fun to the serious business of doing better.

Because when circular living becomes part of everyday life, everyone benefits. And when we declutter our world, we make room for magic.
